Elisabeth Blanchet's Winter of photos
It has been a prefabs' Winter, taking more photos, recording more memories and filming in Catford, Redditch, Chesterfield and even Scotland. I also hold a tea party inviting prefabs' residents to bring along some old photos and documents linked to their lives in a prefab. It was a lovely afternoon joyfully entertained by Eddie - who has been living in his prefab since 1946 -, Ted , Rose and a few other ones.
Thanks to the crowdfunding money and a grant for the arts I managed to get from the Art Council England, I will be able to complete my documentary film by June, pursue the building of a prefabs' archive and have a photo exhibition at Photofusion in Brixton where my film will also be shown. It will run from the 27th of June till the 2nd of August. Please keep Thursday the 27th free as you are all invited to the preview! Another great piece of news: I have just been commissionned by Shire Books to write a book about the history of post-war prefabs.
Also, Lord Neil Kinnock, who grew up in a prefab in South Wales, kindly paid a visit to the estate, met residents Eddie and Gerry and gave us his views on prefabs.
To get the last updates on the project and find out more about prefabs, visit (and like!) our Palaces for the People Facebook Page.
Only a few miles away from Catford, but in a different world, I had the chance to photograph the glamour and the glitter of the London Fashion Week for Time Out: paps, models, celebrities, dresses, skirts and high heels in this slideshow
I also took a few breaks from my Prefabulous tour to shoot portraits of inspiring people: Irish Traveller Bridey Purcell for the Sunday Times Magazine, Syrian activist Rami Abdulrahman for M (Le Monde Magazine) and... the Boy with Tape on his Face for Time Out

My photos are mainly about people and their stories. When I got commissionned by Catherine Déliot (founder of Mamans à Londres website) to work with her on My Wardrobe Memory, a project about clothes why we keep them, I saw it as an interesting challenge. Would photos of clothes people never want to get rid of tell the stories behind? That's for you to judge... Here are the first wardrobe memories. My Wardrobe Memory is an ongoing project, please don't hesitate to get involved if you want to talk about the too small Princess Diana T-shirt or your son's baby pyjamas you will never use again but haven't been able to part from...
Since I have moved to London in 2001, I have been fascinated by the "ladette culture" in Britain. I have been photographing girls at parties, pubs, clubs all over the UK, here is a photo essay with boozy shots
And finally, to give you a pre-taste of English Summer holidays, travel to Brighton with the joyful team of Meard Street Productions...
